A dense patch of green in the busy city center of Athens, provides an ideal shelter for birds, at any time of the year.
The National Gardens of Athens are centrally located. This is a great place for a birding escape, right in the middle of the city center. Resident species include Hjálmsöngvari, Svartþröstur, Flotmeisa, Blámeisa. Spring migration can be phenomenal with Trafgrípur, Herfugl or Alpasvölungur, while winter hosts species that come from Northern Europe to spend the winter in Athens, such as Kjarnbítur, Barrfinka and Söngþröstur.
National Gardens of Athens has easy access from multiple entrances. Metro station Syntagma is right beside the main entrance.
Best visited early in the moring, when it is still quiet.
