Description
Just north of Kalloni, the rocky area of Madaros can be found. This is a great spot to find some typical inland species that inhabit rocky outcrops, dry valleys and scrubby hillsides. The best part of the area is when the track leads up the hill. This track provides a great view over the surrounding valleys and the adjacent scrubs and foliage is great for many typical inland species, like Þýðsöngvari, Kampasöngvari and (during migration) many species of migrating songbird, like Hauksöngvari. With a bit of luck, you can find Glaumgali here too.
The rocky outcrops in the area are great for species like Steinigða, Hrjósturtittlingur and Jörfadepill. Checking the valley from off the track, you might have a chance to see (small flocks of) Berghæna.
Some parts of the track also provide a view over the riverbed of Tsiknias River, so species like Ryðönd, herons and egrets can be seen too.

Access
The area can be accessed by a dirt road that leads you from Kalloni towards the parking spot (see map). It's best to walk the track up and down to see as many birds as possible.
