Description
At the inlet of the Muldestausee reservoir you have interesting opportunities to watch a variety of waterfowl, including gulls and terns such as Stormmáfur , Hettumáfur , Klapparmáfur , Klapparmáfur and Sílaþerna , but also others such as Vatnalóa , Dílaskarfur , Nílarönd , Gargönd and more. Of course, these islands and the surrounding shores also get visited by passerines (and Cuculiformes) such as Laufglói , Gulerla , Maríuerla and Gaukur . Plus, there is a range of raptors flying by from time to time such as Svölugleða , Haförn and occasionally Gjóður.

Access
Vogelschutzinsel Muldestausee is situated right next to the village of Pouch. You have a parking lot nearby (marked at the "P" marker). The bicycle road Mulderadweg is also passing by. The vantage points themselves have to be explored by foot.

(1) There is an observation tower which is marked on the map, but the surrounding trees have grown so much since it has been built, it's hardly of any use.
(2) This spot is right next to a federal highway (Bundesstraße) which makes it quite noisy depending on how fast the cars and motorbikes pass by (often pretty fast as the bridge is wide and straight).
(3) Please note that the bike and pedestrian lane are merged here. If you set up a tripod for your spotting scope or camera, you should try to stay attentive.
(4) Depending on your luck, there can also be a few birds on the Mulde and their adjoining fields, which can be observed from and below the bridge.
(5) Nearby, there's also the information center for environmental education (Haus am See} which offers exhibits and organizes events. You'll find a link to their website below.
