Description
Taubergießen is a floodplain wetland in the Upper Rhine region. It spans about 1,700 hectares, making it one of the largest protected areas in Baden-Württemberg. The wetland plays a crucial role in flood management and habitat conservation and is home to many birds.
In the alluvial forests breed Turtildúfa, Laufglói and Gunnfálki. Near the Altrhein you can spot Sílaþerna, Mjallhegri, and sometimes Bjarthegri, Gjóður and Haförn. In addition, many resting migratory birds can be observed like Rauðhöfðaönd, Taumönd, and Sefgoði.

Taubergießen is located close to the towns of Kappel-Grafenhausen, Rust, Rheinhausen and the French town of Rhinau. You can easily park at the Taubergießen Ecological Station. Press P on the map for directions to the parking. From there you can explore the area on foot or by bike if you stay on the paths. There are several marked trails.
