Access
Sandgrube Zapfendorf is located directly north of the town of Zapfendorf. You can of course get there by car and leave it right next to the "Kleingartensiedlung" or south of the ponds. Press P on the map for directions to a parking.
Getting there by public transport is a bit difficult and you have to walk for a bit, e.g. starting at the Zapfendorf trainstation.

PLEASE NOTE, that this sandpit is under constant change. Some of the lakes/ponds may be altered due to the activity. The current map is not up-to-date as of May 2025. And on a similar note, the habitat quality may deteriorate.
You can also visit the "Große Wört" Southwest of this birding place (marked with a "star" symbol and a few suggested spots). However, you'll have to walk on the street for a bit to get to the actual trail.
