The Asperberg is the eastern end of the Reichswald. Through many footpaths it is possible to observe forest birds very closely.
The woodland on Asperberg is home to several types of forest. From beech forest to coniferous forest to mixed forest. As a result, many forest bird species can be found there. But the high density of woodpeckers is characteristic. Five woodpecker species (Svartspæta, Barrspæta, Fauskspæta, Stubbspæta and Grænspæta) can be found in the area.
There is a car park directly on the road (Triftstraße), from which a path leads into the forest. The path is intended for cyclists and pedestrians and is divided into several smaller paths.
Depending on the time of day, bird watching can be affected by many walkers, joggers, etc. A special feature of the forest is the high density of woodpeckers.
