Description
The Meiner Stapelteiche area consists of several small ponds with extensive reed beds and shoreline areas, as well as open water and a small wooded area. This structure offers good conditions for a variety of bird species.
Waterfowl such as Hnúðsvanur, Stokkönd, Urtönd, Skeiðönd, Grágæs, Brandönd and other water birds can be well observed. Also waders like Jaðrakan, Lyngstelkur and Trjástelkur use the area as a rest area. The large reedbeds are suitable for species such as Seftittlingur and Blábrystingur. During migration, the area is attractive to migratory birds. Birds of prey such as Músvákur or Svölugleða frequently circle over the surrounding fields and meadows.
