Description
The Langwieser See is a small lake. The lake itself isn't very good for birding, but sometimes you can spot Bláþyrill there. In the reed area about 100 meters east of the lake, in winter you can see for example Seftittlingur and sometimes also Keldusvín. In summer it's full of Sefsöngvari. West to the lake, there are nice water reservoirs, which in winter often contain Dvergsnípa (best to spot with a thermal imaging camera), and sometimes Hrossagaukur.
South to the reservoirs, there is a smal bush land with Gultittlingur, Þistilfinka and in winter often Fjallafinka. In the gardens and trees along the small stream you can find Barrfinka in winter and Garðaskotta and Þyrnisöngvari in summer. Sometimes you can also hear a Næturgali here.
Very good are the fields around the whole area. During migration you can see Þúfutittlingur, Seljusöngvari, Hagaskvetta (sometimes also staying over winter), Gáshaukur, Steindepill, Gulerla, Netlusöngvari and rarely Gauktíta, Vepja and Bláheiðir. All year round you will find Hörfinka, Sönglævirki, Gráhegri and Turnfálki. Sometimes you can also see Akurhæna, Sparrhaukur or Förufálki.
