Watch the only Western European colony of Snjógæs.
Jröne Meerke (little green sea) is a small park with a pond at the north-western edge of the city of Neuss. It contains the only Western European colony of Snjógæs. Depending on the season there are also numerous other waterfowl, such as Skúfönd, Stokkönd, Gargönd, Dverggoði, Dílaskarfur, Sefhæna or Bleshæna. There are many trees and a small forest in the park that host numerous songbirds, including Söngþröstur, Mistilþröstur, Hnotigða, Bókfinka, Þistilfinka, Grænfinka, Glóbrystingur, Blámeisa, Flotmeisa and many more. If you want to see the Snjógæs, you should come in the early morning or before sunset as the geese often go out to the surrounding fields for feeding.
There is a nearby car park. Click on the P in the map to get directions. Easily accessable park paths lead to and around the pond.
