Hvítstorkur started breeding in the Hagwinkel area some years ago. Many waterfowl are attracted by the pond and the nearby small river Niers. Besides Hvítstorkur you can see Nílarönd, Grágæs, Dílaskarfur, Mjallhegri, Turnfálki, Músvákur and Bláþyrill.
