Description

The Burgwald is comprised of 20,000 hectares of forest areas and is among the largest in Hesse. Great area to combine hiking and birding and a good area for observing owls. The area is home to the Sparrugla and Skálmugla. And of course many woodland birds like tits, woodpeckers and others. The Franzosenwiesen is a moor area that is located in a depression in the middle of the Burgwald. They consist of ecologically valuable moors, wet meadows, still waters and alluvial forests.
