Description
Böhmerweiher consists of two lakes. The smaller lake supports Dverggoði, Sefhæna and Bleshæna. Urtönd overwinter here. The larger lake often attracts visiting waterfowl in the winter: Grágæs, Gargönd, Toppgoði, more rarely Rauðhöfðaönd, Brandönd or Gulönd. Bláþyrill fish in both ponds.
In the gravel areas and streams surrounding the lakes Gultittlingur and Laufsöngvari sing from the bushes. Grænspæta feed on the ants. Keldusvín skulks on the banks. Sefsöngvari and Seftittlingur populate the reeds in the spring and summer. Occasional visitors like the Herfugl can surprise you by stopping to rest during their migration.
Hrossagaukur sometimes forage in the wet fields surrounding Böhmerweiher. And sometimes Förufálki hunt for prey.
