Description
The Baggersee Grötzingen is a former gravel pit that is now part nature reserve, part recreational (fishing, bathing zone). In winter there are usually good numbers of Skúfönd, Gargönd, Urtönd, Toppgoði, Gráhegri and Dílaskarfur. They are sometimes joined by smaller numbers or individual Skutulönd, Hvinönd, Skeiðönd or Mandarínönd.
Most years, some more uncommon or rare species appear at some point during the winter. In recent years, Duggönd, Sefgoði, Hrafnsönd and Korpönd have all been seen here. The woods surrounding the lake are a good place to look out for less common woodland species, such as Gráspæta, Stubbspæta and Kjarnbítur.
