Ponichala Reserve - Krtsanisi Park

Tblisi  >  Georgia

A city park next to a highway, but remarkebly rich in birds. A good spot if you have a spare day in Tblisi.

Description

The park has paved roads and locals drive through the park and picknick on the grass. The park looks more like an open forest with grass. There are six woodpecker species here, Stubbspæta, Fauskspæta, Barrspæta, Balkanspæta, Grænspæta and Svartspæta. Other woodland birds include many visible Laufglói, nice krynicki subspecies of the Skrækskaði with a black cap and Skopugla. Closer to the Kura river are wetlands and reedbeds which I did not explore.
