The summit of Hohneck and the Cirque du Frankenthal represent the best bird watching sites in the Hautes-Vosges.
Around Massif du Hohneck and Cirque du Frankenthal you can observe the majority of birds of the mid-mountains of the Vosges. Thanks to the presence of several natural environments such as mountain pastures, cliffs and high-altitude forests. Among the birds you can encounter are Förufálki, Þúfutittlingur, Fjalltittlingur, Steintittlingur, Steindepill, Vallskvetta, Hrafn, Bjargsvala, Mánaþröstur and Hnotbrjótur.

A road allows you to climb to the top of the Massif du Hohneck and park in the car park at the foot of the inn. Press a P on the map for directions to a parking. The circular walking route shown on the map is about 6,5 km.
