Description
Etang de la Pouge is a protected lake surrounded by pasture landscape with grasslands, patches of forest and open fields. Around 30 species of ducks, waders and other water birds breed in the area, winter in the area or make a stop at the lake during migration. The main attraction is the Gráhegri colony, but there are many other birds you can encounter. For example Toppgoði, Bleshæna, Mjallhegri, Grænspæta, Svartspæta, Blámeisa, Flotmeisa and Urtönd.

Access
Etang de la Pouge in Saint Auvent. The lake is very well signposted. A small car park is available. Click on the P in the map to get directions to the parking. A circular tour of the pond (6 km) can be done on foot (no other way). Part is done on the road. There is also a 2.5 km interpretive trail, dotted with explanatory panels and a bird hide to watch the heronry.
