Small beautiful island owned by Age V. Jensen Naturfond.
Æbelø is a small island with very bird-rich surroundings. The walk across the tidal causeway is worth the trip alone, the island is gem, beautiful views and nature is getting first priority. Among the birds you can encounter are Bjúgnefja, Toppönd, Æðarfugl, Hvinönd, Hrafnsönd, Fjöruspói, Tjaldur, Lappajaðrakan, Þyrnisvarri and Brúnheiðir. But many more, see the birdlist below.
Parking at Lindøhoved. Click on the P in the map to get directions. You have to walk across the tidal causeway around low tide. Be sure to check the tide table. See the link below.
The walk across the tidal causeway takes about an hour and a half. There is a public toilet at Lindøhoved, no running water though. Bring a trovel and biodegradable paper. And lots of water. Staying overnight is not permitted.
