Description

As most of the capes, Emine provides specific conditions for concentrating interesting bird species. Most of the territory consist of open grasslands on a gentle slope, but with good coverage of bushes and oak trees. Sandlævirki, Trjálævirki, Steppudepill and other can be seen on the pastures. Grámeisa, Álmtittlingur, Þýðsöngvari, Ólífusöngvari, Hjálmsöngvari and Kampasöngvari, Vallskvetta and other birds of southern origin can be observed amongst the bushes and trees. On the cliffs Steintittlingur and Nunnudepill breed. The little village (Emona) is the place to observe the Balkanspæta or Húsaskotta. The cape offers excellent sea-watching possibilities, which can produce Stormskrofa, Kjói, loons and other sea birds. Big variety of species pass at the cape during both autumn and spring migration.
