The Munsterbos (Munster forest) is an old fullgrown wood with beeches and oaks. Surrounded by meadows and a large pond. Among the birds you can see here are: Grænsöngvari, Grágrípur, Flekkugrípur, Svartspæta, Gaukur, Seljusöngvari, Sefsöngvari, Keldusvín, Mistilþröstur and Straumerla.
The Munsterbos is freely accessible on the hiking trails. Boots or sturdy shoes are needed in wet periods. If you want to come by public transport, you can take the train to the station of Bilzen and then bus 10 (Tongeren-Genk) to the stop Munsterbilzen center. If you arrive by car park on the parking spot that is marked on the map with P. From there you need to explore the area on foot.
There is an observation tower at the pond.
