Description

The reservoir is shallow, having only a maximum depth of 9m (30’), which makes it very attractive to both dabbling and diving ducks. It occasionally attracts less common wildfowl, such as Nagy bukó and Fekete réce and Vörösnyakú vöcsök, Feketenyakú vöcsök and Füles vöcsök. Waders are often present in spring and autumn, including Pajzsoscankó, Erdei cankó, Sárszalonka, Piroslábú cankó, Csigaforgató and Kis lile. Scaling Dam can also be an excellent place to watch raptors and, from the hide, an eye should always be kept on the moorland plateau and valleys for Kékes rétihéja, Barna rétihéja, Kis sólyom and Vándorsólyom and, if you are extremely lucky, Vörös kánya or Gatyás ölyv. The site is also good for summer visitors, such as Kakukk, rozsdás csuk and fitiszfüzike, and residents like cigánycsuk, hegyi billegető and Mezei veréb.

There is a hide for birdwatching where you might see Bíbic, Nyári lúd, Kanadai lúd, Énekes hattyú and many wading birds.
