Description

Start at Shepherd's Wheel a working Cutler's grinding wheel powered by water. See breeding Vízirigó and hegyi billegető in an urban setting, Csuszka, Hegyi fakusz, Nagy fakopáncs, Zöld küllo, Csilpcsalpfüzike, Barátposzáta, Macskabagoly, plus wintering szőlőrigó, fenyőrigó, fenyőpinty and Nagy bukó. Very popular but with easy conditions underfoot as you gradually rise to the source of the Porter Brook on the edge of the Peak District with stunning views back down onto Sheffield. There's a popular cafe half way along the route at Forge Dam a former water wheel and mill pond.
