Description

Merkinch is an area of tidal pools and mudflats, reedbeds, ponds, saltmarsh and scrub. Birds seen include Kerceréce, Pehelyréce, all three diver species, jegesréce, Füles vöcsök, Alka, Vízirigó, parti pityer, Csíz, fenyőpinty, nagy keresztcsőrű, Réti tücsökmadár, Halászsas and Karvaly.

Access

Merkinch is the NW suburb of Inverness. Follow Thornbush road/Kessock road to the terminus where parking is available. Regular bus service.
