Description
Utlängan is an island in the Karlskrona archipelago. The island is situated the furthest out to sea of any of the archipelago's islands. Utlängan is approximately 3 km long and 1.5 km across. The island covers just over 215 hectares. 329 bird species have been recorded at Utlängan. Along the coastal meadows and seaweed rich bays waders often rest. Most of them are found in early May and from late July-August. The most common species are: Piroslábú cankó, Havasi partfutó andParti lile. Many rarer species like vékonycsőrű víztaposó, Kis sárszalonka and Sárjáró are regularly found.
Utlängen is an excellent observation area for migration. Thousands of migrating Apácalúd, Örvös lúd, Fekete réce, Füstös réce, Pehelyréce, Küszvágó csér, Daru, jegesréce and Nagy póling can be found. The area is one of the best in Sweden when it comes to migrating waterfowl.
The island is a last stopover in Sweden for many migrating passerine birds during migration season. Large amounts of fitiszfüzike (has been seen in the thousands), Csíz (Has been seen in the thousands), Seregély and sárgafejű királyka can often be found. The area is often visited by rare eastern warblers like Királyfüzike, Vándorfüzike and Karvalyposzáta. Other rare passerine birds sometimes found are Sárgarigó, Kerti sármány and tüzesfejű királyka.

Access
To get to the island you need to take a ferry from Yttre Park. Parking can be done there. Click on the P in the map to get directions to Yttre Park. The ferry goes a couple times a day (see the link below for time table). Utlängans harbour, called Stenshamn, is an island in its own right and is linked by bridge to Utlängan proper.
