Description
During winter most of the Norrbysjön lake is covered in ice, but where Motala ström meets Norrbysjön the water is ususally open year round. During this period large flocks of Szárcsa, Nagy bukó, Tőkés réce, Kontyos réce, Bütykös hattyú, Kanadai lúd, Ezüstsirály and Kerceréce can be found. Often numbering in the hundreds. Within these flocks rarer wintering birds like Búbos vöcsök, Bíbic, Énekes hattyú, dabbling ducks, Kis vöcsök , Nagy lilik, Seregély, Barátréce, and Kárókatona can be spotted. The large amounts of wintering birds attract birds of prey like Rétisas, Egerészölyv, and Kékes rétihéja.
When the ice melts large amounts of pipits, larks, geese, Énekes hattyú, and sometimes Kis hattyú, use the fields around the lake as feeding grounds. The lake is usually filled with many dabbling ducks, gulls and terns. Husbyängarna are often flodded, and usually hold wading birds like Kis sárszalonka, Piroslábú cankó, Parti lile, Bíbic, and Szürke cankó. The reedbeds around the lake are now filled with birds. Some rare birds who are sometimes found around the lakes are Bölömbika, Nádi tücsökmadár, Barkóscinege and Nádirigó. Some rare terns and gulls like Kis sirály and kormos szerkő pass the lake during the spring migration.
Some rarer breeding birds at the lake are Nádirigó, Bölömbika, Fogoly, Kis fakopáncs, Haris and Jégmadár. Norrbysjön is and excellent area for night active birds. Around the lake Haris, Fürj, Réti tücsökmadár, Nagy fülemüle, Berki tücsökmadár, Énekes nádiposzáta can often be heard at the lake.
During autumn large amounts of geese start to visit the lake again. Many more passerine birds can be found on the fields. Among these Hósármány, Sarkantyús sármány and Rozsdástorkú pityer are often found. Hundreds of Aranylile can often be found on the fields. Sometimes marine ducks like Fekete réce and Füstös réce stay at the lake.
