Description

In and around Leonardsberg 233 bird species have been recorded. During the spring migration the area is an important resting ground for migrating geese like Vetési lúd, Nagy lilik and Tundrai vetési lúd who sometimes rest in large amounts. The shallow lake also attracts large amounts of dabblings ducks. The coastal meadows also hold large amounts of waders especially during autumn. The fields around Leonardsberg often hold large flocks of doves, thrushes, and finches in the autumn, among these Rozsdástorkú pityer and Sarkantyús sármány are often found.

There is a large colony of Dankasirály next to Leonardsberg holding hundreds of gulls. From Leonardsberg you can sometimes get a good view of migrating birds of prey and migrating passerine birds. Large amounts of Örvös galamb and Egerészölyv are sometimes seen.
