Galtabâck is known for the shallow lagoon of Lerjan, surrounded by grazed salt marsh meadows.
The Lerjan lagoon is an excellent location for flights of small birds in the autumn at times of easterly winds. South Galtabäck is a 10 km long coastal stretch with grazed salt marsh meadows classified as a Ramsar area. Among the birds that can be spotted here are Kenderike, Mezei pacsirta, Réti pityer, Apácalúd, Nyári lúd, Havasi partfutó, Bíbic, Csigaforgató, Barna rétihéja, Rétisas, Fütyülő réce and Kerceréce.
You can access the Lerjan lagoon from Galtabäck harbour where there is a bird tower. You can also walk by the Old Köpstad nature reserve and leave the car South the Old Köpstad village, respecting the rules of the area. Click on a P in the map for directions.
