A seasonal wetland from October to July. Laguna de Meco is shallow with a multitude of shores and islands and rich in birds.
The seasonal lagoon of Laguna de Meco is a nice place for birding near Madrid and an important wetland for birds. But despite its values, Laguna de Meco still does not have environmental protection. During the breeding season, the lagoon stands out as the only breeding place for fattyúszerkő and Dankasirály in the Community of Madrid, as well as an important breeding place for Feketenyakú vöcsök, Gólyatöcs, Barna rétihéja, Ugartyúk and more. During the pre and post nuptial migrations it is a very good place to see waders, there are always surprises hidden among the vegetation.
