Description
Alto de Castrosiero is a high point above the Rudrón canyon. The area has many routes to do on foot and many viewpoints over the canyons of the Ebro and Rudrón rivers where you can stop on a route by car. From them, as from this isolated high point over the Rudrón and Valdelateja canyon, you can see birds of prey hovering over the air currents at eye level. The landscape is also worth a visit. The most numerous and common species is the Fakó keselyű, but it is also easy to see Vörös kánya and other birds of prey.

La zona cuenta con muchas rutas que realizar a pie y muchos miradores sobre los cañones de los ríos Ebro y Rudrón en los que parar en una ruta en coche. Desde ellos, como desde este alto aislado sobre el cañón del Rudrón y Valdelateja, se pueden observar aves rapaces planeando sobre las corrientes de aire a la altura misma de los ojos. El paisaje merece también la pena. La especie más numerosa y habitual es el Fakó keselyű, pero también es fácil ver Vörös kánya, falconiformes.

Access
The route begins in the small town of Valdelateja, which is also worth a visit. As the river passes through the town, the Rudrón River also offers a good place to observe birds that like river courses, such as Vízirigó. Just before the entrance to the town, there is a car park where you have to leave your car (you cannot drive into the town). Once you have crossed the river and within Valdelateja, a narrow well-marked path starts to the right and goes up to the old abandoned town of Siero. Continuing the climb, you immediately reach the top of Castrosiero crowned by an old medieval hermitage.

Espagnol: La ruta comienza en el pequeño pueblo de Valdelateja, que merece también una visita. En su paso por la localidad burgalesa, el río Rudrón ofrece también un buen lugar de observación de aves que gustan de los cursos de río, como Vízirigó. Justo antes de la entrada al pueblo, hay un aparcamiento en el que hay que dejar el coche (no se puede entrar en coche al pueblo). Una vez cruzado el río ya dentro de Valdelateja, un estrecho sendero bien señalizado parte hacia la derecha y sube hasta el antiguo pueblo abandonado de Siero. Continuando la subida, enseguida se alcanza el alto de Castrosiero coronado por una antigua ermita medieval.
