Access
About 50 km / 1 hr north of Belgrade, when you reach the church in the village of Sakule, use the street to the left, right opposite to the church yard gate, and follow it till the very end. When you reach a T-junction, turn left to reach the Jer Lake embankment. For driving directions, zoom in on the map and click on the "P" (parking) sign.
This levee can be extremely muddy after rains, especially during Autumn and Winter, making the ground very slippery.
Further along lies a distant shallow shorebird lake, yet the southern half of the embankment is more suitable for mule rides than driving—recommendable only on foot.
The watchtowers have no stairs but very steep ladders instead. On sunny days try not to come here too early, because most of the lake stretches towards the east and the sun glare on the water surface will effectively blind you.
