Description
Sosenki is a relatively small area in the Sanok town, being partially covered in pine trees (for which the Polish name derives from). The main areas of interest here, putting aside nearby San River banks, are: pine tree park, two fishing ponds, surrounded by mixed shrubbery and trees, and also a fen - with its own nature/educational trail. The fen is a part of the PLB180003 "Góry Słonne" Natura 2000 area. It's mainly known for species of water-dependant birds, but also some woodland species and many birds of prey, having their territories there and nearby. Some species of water-dependant birds that can be found here in nesting season are: Tőkés réce, Csörgo réce, Bütykös hattyú, Kis vöcsök, Guvat, Vízityúk, Szárcsa, Bíbic, Kis lile, Sárszalonka, billegetőcankó, Fekete gólya, Szürke gém, Nagy kócsag, Jégmadár, Függőcinege, Foltos nádiposzáta, cserregő nádiposzáta, Nádirigó, sárga billegető, barázdabillegető and Nádi sármány.
Many other water-dependant species can be met during migration or during winter, especially if the surface of ponds isn't covered with ice, like: Böjti réce, Kanalas réce, Kendermagos réce, Fütyülő réce, Nyílfarkú réce, Barátréce, Cigányréce, Kontyos réce, Kerceréce, Kis bukó, Nagy bukó, Búbos vöcsök, Pettyes vízicsibe, Pajzsoscankó, Kis sárszalonka, Erdei cankó, Füstös cankó, Szürke cankó, Réti cankó, Piroslábú cankó, Dankasirály, Viharsirály, Sztyeppi sirály, Küszvágó csér, Sarki búvár, Északi búvár, Kárókatona, törpegém, Bakcsó, Nádi tücsökmadár and hegyi billegető. Some birds of prey that can be found here in nesting season: Darázsölyv, békászó sas, Szirti sas, Barna rétihéja, Karvaly, Héja, Rétisas, Egerészölyv, Macskabagoly, Erdei fülesbagoly, vörös vércse and Kabasólyom. Migrating/wintering species: Halászsas, Kékes rétihéja, Hamvas rétihéja, Barna kánya, Gatyás ölyv, Kék vércse and Vándorsólyom.
Forest/park and shrubbery is also home to many woodland species, such as: Örvös galamb, Kakukk, Nagy fakopáncs, Kis fakopáncs, hamvas küllő, Zöld küllo, Fekete harkály, Sárgarigó, Szajkó, Holló, Fenyvescinege, Barátcinege, kormosfejű cinege, Kék cinege, széncinege, Kerti geze, Csilpcsalpfüzike, fitiszfüzike, őszapó, Barátposzáta, kis poszáta, sárgafejű királyka, Csuszka, Hegyi fakusz, Rövidkarmú fakusz, Ökörszem, Seregély, Léprigó, Énekes rigó, fekete rigó, Szürke légykapó, Vörösbegy, Erdei pinty, Meggyvágó, Zöldike, tengelic. Some, like Süvöltő and Csíz can be met here only during migration/winter. Other species, more related to fen and open habitats in general are: Fürj, Fácán, Haris, Fehér gólya, Tövisszúró gébics, Szarka, Dolmányos varjú, Mezei pacsirta, Réti tücsökmadár, Mezei poszáta and Citromsármány.
