Description
Polder Zeevang is a former marshland area and the soil contains mostly peat and clay. Therefore, the area is very wet and the water level is often high, which results in wet pastures and damp meadows. A beautiful landscape for many species of waterbird. In summer, common species of wader that can be found on these pastures are Nagy goda, Piroslábú cankó and Bíbic. The small puddles attract many more waders and other species. The area is also used as breeding habitat by Mezei pacsirta, Réti pityer and sárga billegető.
In winter, the area attracts large numbers of geese and ducks. Massive flocks of Nagy lilik, Nyári lúd and Apácalúd can be found. The ditches are used by many species of duck, like Kanalas réce, Kontyos réce, but mainly by thousands and thousands of Fütyülő réce. During the day, they tend to stay in the ditches or forage just on the pastures adjacent to these ditches. At night, they tend to go further into the area. Another great species for the area is Aranylile and flocks can be seen resting in the open pastures during the day.

Overdag blijven ze in de sloten of foerageren ze alleen op de weilanden die aan deze sloten grenzen. 'S Nachts hebben ze de neiging om verder het gebied in te gaan. Een andere geweldige soort voor het gebied is Aranylile en er zijn overdag groepen te zien die rusten in de open weiden.

You can access the area by car, bicycle or you can just walk. The best way to observe the birds, is by car. They tend to stay put when people stay in their cars and just pull over every now and then.
