This area, best visited in the afternoon for light conditions, often holds interesting (wintering) seabirds between the poles of the mussel beds.

Description

The mussel beds in this part of the Wadden Sea are a good feeding ground for birds like Pehelyréce , Feketenyakú vöcsök and, in winter, Északi búvár and/or lumma . When you're lucky, you may find a Füles vöcsök or a Vörösnyakú vöcsök between the numerous Feketenyakú vöcsök , that gather here after the breeding season.

Nederlands: Dit gebied, dat 's middags het best bezocht kan worden vanwege de lichtomstandigheden, herbergt vaak interessante (overwinterende) zeevogels. De mosselbanken in dit deel van de Waddenzee zijn een goede voedselplek voor vogels als Pehelyréce, Feketenyakú vöcsök en in de winter Északi búvár en / of lumma. Als je geluk hebt, vind je misschien een Füles vöcsök of een Vörösnyakú vöcsök tussen de talrijke Feketenyakú vöcsök, die hier na het broedseizoen samenkomen.

Access

There is a parking lot along the IJsdijk and a maintenance road as well as a staircase going over the dike. Most of the birds can easily be seen from the dike. In winter, it may be interesting to search the outer rocks for parti pityer and Hósármány.

Nederlands: Er is een parkeerplaats langs de IJsdijk en een onderhoudsweg en een trap over de dijk. De meeste vogels zijn vanaf de dijk goed te zien. In de winter kan het interessant zijn om in de buitenste rotsen te zoeken naar parti pityer en Hósármány.

The Wadden Sea can be quite choppy, but the grebes can still be there. It may be worthwhile to take an extra good look.
