A small pond for waders and ducks between two dikes with a concrete wall with nesting holes for partifecske.

Description

The breeding wall for partifecske has been discovered by the birds and is used yearly by a good number of pairs. The pond has often waders like kőforgató , Havasi partfutó and Piroslábú cankó . There can be a variety of ducks, like Kanalas réce , Kendermagos réce and in winter Fütyülő réce . During migration the area will be visited by barázdabillegető , sárga billegető (including the rare Grey-headed Wagtail (thunbergi) and Western Yellow Wagtail (flavissima) ) and Réti pityer.

Nederlands: Een kleine vijver voor steltlopers en eenden tussen twee dijken met een betonnen muur met nestgaten voor partifecske. De broedmuur voor partifecske is inmiddels ontdekt door de vogels en wordt jaarlijks door een flink aantal paren gebruikt. De vijver heeft vaak steltlopers zoals kőforgató, Havasi partfutó en Piroslábú cankó. Er kan een verscheidenheid aan eenden zijn, zoals Kanalas réce, Kendermagos réce en in de winter Fütyülő réce. Tijdens de trek wordt het gebied bezocht door barázdabillegető, sárga billegető (inclusief de zeldzame Grey-headed Wagtail (thunbergi) en Western Yellow Wagtail (flavissima)) en Réti pityer .

The holes in the Sand Martin wall are closed every winter by volunteers from Vogelwerkgroep Texel (www.vwgtexel.nl), so that the partifecske can dig its own nest passages again in the spring to breed.
