Description
The Kroonpolders are a dune area and protected nature reserve. They are six low valleys separated by long straight drift dikes, which also include the largest dune lake on the island of Terschelling. It is not easy to get a good view of the dune lake, but walking through this densely vegetated dune valley you see and hear many birds. Especially in spring the dune scrub is teeming with life. During migration it is quite a surprise what you can find here, because then many migratory birds and rarities can appear. Birds you may encounter in the area are Énekes nádiposzáta, cigánycsuk, Barna rétihéja, Kékes rétihéja, Szürke cankó, Guvat, Kis vöcsök, Réti tücsökmadár, Mezei poszáta, kis poszáta, Fülemüle and Kékbegy.

Nederlands: De Kroonpolders zijn een duingebied en beschermd natuurgebied tussen de strandpalen 3 en 8. Het zijn zes lage valleien gescheiden door lange rechte stuifdijken met ook het grootste duinmeer van het eiland Terschelling. Het is niet eenvoudig om het duinmeer goed te zien, maar wandelend door deze dichtbegroeide duinvallei zie en hoor je veel vogels. Vooral in het voorjaar wemelt het van het leven in het duinstruweel. Tijdens de trek is het best een verrassing wat je hier allemaal aantreft, want dan strijken veel trekvogels hier neer en kunnen zeldzaamheden opduiken. Vogels die je in het gebied kunt tegenkomen zijn Énekes nádiposzáta, cigánycsuk, Barna rétihéja, Kékes rétihéja, Szürke cankó, Guvat, Kis vöcsök, Réti tücsökmadár, Mezei poszáta, kis poszáta, Fülemüle en Kékbegy.

The area is within cycling distance of the village of West-Terschelling. The area itself is only accessible on foot. The route marked on the map is about 5 km long. The parking place indicated on the map is only accessible for bikes.
