Description
De Streken is a landscape artwork on the edge of the Wadden Sea on the island of Terschelling. It is a tribute to Joop Mulder, the founder of theater festival Oerol. The work is built close to the dike at the village of Oosterend, and a special place to view wading birds up close. A small pier takes you to the artwork that is completely surrounded by the mudflats of the Wadden Sea. The monument can be visited annually from the summer to the end of September. Birds that you can see around De Streken are Bütykös ásólúd, Örvös lúd and waders like Piroslábú cankó, Csigaforgató, Nagy póling, Havasi partfutó and Kis goda.

Nederlands: De Streken is een landschapskunstwerk aan de rand van de Waddenzee. Het is een eerbetoon aan Joop Mulder, de grondlegger van Oerol. Het werk is opgebouwd aan de dijk bij Oosterend, en een bijzondere plek om wadvogels van dichtbij te bekijken. Een kleine pier voert je naar het kunstwerk dat midden op het wad staat. Het monument wordt jaarlijks opgebouwd in de zomer en in de herfst weer afgebroken en is van de zomer tot eind september te bezoeken. Vogels die je rondom De Streken kunt zien zijn Bütykös ásólúd, Örvös lúd en veel steltlopers zoals Piroslábú cankó, Csigaforgató, Nagy póling, Havasi partfutó en Kis goda.

Easily accessible from Oosterend and the cycle path along the Waddendijk. Especially interesting at high tide or beginning low tide when the birds are close by. See the link to the tide table below.

Nederlands: Gemakkelijk bereikbaar vanuit Oosterend en het fietspad langs de Waddendijk. Vooral interessant net voor en na hoogwater als het wad op deze plek net begint droog te vallen of vlak voordat het helemaal onder water staat en de vogels het meest dichtbij zitten.
