Description
Palm Islands Nature Reserve used to host many breeders in the past. Today, due to high levels of disturbance (many tourists visit the island via a boat shuttle) only the Sárgalábú sirály still breeds on the island. Today, the island remains an excellent site for monitoring the large migration of waterbirds as well as well as potential observation and/or ringing of passerine migrants. The site is also interesting for wintering seabirds.
Birds that can be observed in the area include Kárókatona, Rózsás gödény, Böjti réce, Szürke gém, Gólyatöcs, Dankasirály, heringsirály, Fehér gólya, Havasi pityer, barázdabillegető, citrombillegető, hegyi billegető, Kenti csér, Bíbic, Küszvágó csér, fehérszárnyú szerkő, Kis lile, üstökösgém, Fekete gólya, Fütyülő réce and bukdosó vészmadár.
