The Aammiq Wetland is the largest remaining freshwater wetland in Lebanon.
The Aammiq marsh lies on one of the most important bird migration routes in the world. Over 250 species of birds have been recorded in the area, including the globally vulnerable Fekete sas, Parlagi sas, Fehérkarmú vércse. Records of globally near-threatened bird species at the wetland include Nagy sárszalonka, Cigányréce and Fakó rétihéja. The main area of reedbeds and open pools covers 253 hectare.
You can get to the reserve by car and explore the area on foot. Parking available at the reserve entrance.
