Örfirisey is a reliable spot to observe the birdlife of the Reykjavík bay. Especially in the colder times of the year. Bringing your telescope, a scan of the bay and horizon might produce birds like jegesréce, Üstökös kárókatona, Szula, Alkabukó, Tarka réce and Örvös bukó. You might also see Északi búvár and Jeges búvár. Örfirsey has also hosted a male tükrös réce every winter since 2014, proving it as a reliable spot for this vagrant. Overhead, Hósármány might pass, and along the rocks there might be Fekete lumma.
