Description
The raptor watchpoint near Kalloni provides a great view over the valley southwards that mainly raptors and storks tend to follow northwards during their spring migration. You need to have a bit of luck, but if you're there during a peak migration event, hundreds and hundreds of raptors and storks can be observed. Common species that can be seen are harriers, like Hamvas rétihéja and even Fakó rétihéja, storks, like Fekete gólya and Fehér gólya, Pusztai ölyv, Steppe Buzzard, Kígyászölyv, Darázsölyv, Kis héja, Héja, Kabasólyom, Kék vércse, Eleonóra-sólyom, Fehérkarmú vércse and Vándorsólyom. Scarcer species can sometimes be seen within flocks of other raptors, like békászó sas, Héjasas, Törpesas and Parlagi sas.
The area surrounding the viewpoint is also good for typical inland species, like Kék kövirigó, Déli hantmadár and Rozsdás sármány.
