Description
The area is characterized by the enormous density of Mezei pacsirta . Numbers are changing but for most of the year you almost stumble over them and they are not shy at all - as aren't the other regular breeding species Sordély, Tövisszúró gébics, Hantmadár, tengelic or Fülemüle. The area is a very popular public park and can get overcrowded during daytime so the best time for birding is early in the morning.
During migration time, common visitors are cigánycsuk, rozsdás csuk, Réti pityer and Nádi sármány. Less frequently, but regularly observed are Erdei szalonka, Réti fülesbagoly or Erdei pacsirta. Also Nyaktekercs and Parlagi pityer are recorded yearly, mainly in August.
Keep your eyes open for overflying raptors and waders of all kind (there are single records of Nagy póling, Aranylile, Kék vércse, Gatyás ölyv, Kékes rétihéja and so on)!
