Coastal reservoir on the edge of the Wadden Sea. Home to many seabirds and shorebirds.
Speicherbecken Tetenbüllspieker is located behind the coastal dike in Tetenbüll. This location means that many seabirds and shorebirds can be observed here. The dike also offers a good opportunity to look out over the salt marshes and mudflats.
Many waders can be observed in the reservoir itself all year round. For example: Havasi partfutó, Erdei cankó, Réti cankó, Ezüstlile, Aranylile, Bíbic, Gulipán and Kanalasgém.
Many geese and waterfowl can also be spotted here; Nyári lúd, Nagy lilik, Fütyülő réce, Nyílfarkú réce and Tőkés réce. Rarities are also regularly observed here. Sárjáró have been observed here almost every year for example.
Speicherbecken Tetenbüllspieker is best accessed by bike or by foot. There is a restaurant (opening hours may vary) and lookout point over the seaside mudflats on the northern edge. Both are marked on the map below. Cars can be parked at the restaurant carpark in the north (P on the map), or on village streets on the western or southern edges of the reservoir.
Public Transport: There is a rural bustop about 1.5 km/20min walk from the area (starred on the map), with buslines from the town of Husum in the east (50min ride), and Garding in the south (30min ride). Both of these towns have train stations.
