Description
The Salmenwiesen meadows are easily accessible and offer a good mix of birds all year round, especially at times when there is water on the meadows and in the ditches. When the meadows are flooded, a good number of birds use the meadows as a place to feed and rest. Nyári lúd, Kanadai lúd, Szürke gém, Vízityúk, Tőkés réce and Kormos varjú are nearly always present. At times they are joined by Fehér gólya, Vörös ásólúd and Csörgo réce.
During spring migration it is possible to see pairs or small groups of cigánycsuk and sárga billegető. If you are lucky, you may see Sárszalonka , Réti tücsökmadár or even a rarity such as a Pásztorgém! During spring and summer there is a good chance of observing Mezei poszáta, Tövisszúró gébics and Füsti fecske. Birds of prey can also frequently be observed soaring over the meadows.
In winter, Réti pityer and barázdabillegető are usually present and can be heard and seen foraging on the meadows and in the reeds.
