Description
Kiesseen Prettin is a body of water of 112 hectare located on the Elbe River near Prettin. Characteristic are the shoals and the sandbanks, some of which lie in the middle of the water. Almost 50 breeding bird species are known on the site. The waterfowl include Bütykös hattyú and Szárcsa. The vertical bank walls are inhabited by partifecske, and Csigaforgató breeds on the gravelly flat banks. cserregő nádiposzáta, Énekes nádiposzáta and Nádi sármány live in the reed beds, while Fülemüle and Függőcinege live in the damp wood along the banks. The dry bushes are inhabited by Tövisszúró gébics, Mezei poszáta and kis poszáta, while vörös vércse, Sárgarigó and Mezei veréb breed in the trees. Fogoly, rozsdás csuk, Búbospacsirta and Hantmadár live on the ruderal and barren areas. The gravel lakes are also important for resting migrating waterfowl, especially Tundrai vetési lúd, Nagy lilik, Barátréce, Kontyos réce and Nagy bukó.
