Description
Grabschützer See is a renatured opencast mining area that is part of a larger nature reserve of Werbeliner See. The reserve is focussed on the improvement of bird habitats and has small ponds, wet meadows, island and rib structures and steep banks. More than 180 bird species have been recorded in the nature reserve so far. A nature trail leads you over a total of 7 km on a circular path through the various habitats. Among the birds you can see are Kis vöcsök, Vörösnyakú vöcsök, Búbos vöcsök, Csíz, Kis bukó, Kékbegy, Bíbic, Nagy kócsag, Vörös kánya, Nádirigó and Barkóscinege. Also wild wolves live in the area.

Via motorway A9 AS Wiedemar, then on the state road S2 to Zwochau (7 km) - via the motorway A14 AS Leipzig/Nord, then on the state road S2 to Zwochau (10 km. Public transport: To arrive by train, the station Rackwitz (8.5 km) or the train station Delitzsch / Unterer Bahnhof (8.5 km) can be used. If you want to come by bus, take line 190 or line 206 to the stop Leipziger Straße, Zwochau (0.5 km). Parking available in Zwochau. Click on the P in the map to get directions. The 7 km circular route is also suitable for bicycles.
