Description
The Cospudener See is an artificially constructed lake south of Leipzig. The southeastern corner of the Cospudener lake and the adjacent Neue Hardt forest hold an interesting mixture of birds living in the water, in reed beds, wetland, on grassland and in forests. These include bird species such as Küszvágó csér , Fütyülő réce , Kendermagos réce , kisasszonyréce (early spring 2024), Búbos vöcsök , Nyári lúd , Kis lile , billegetőcankó , Függőcinege , Erdei pityer , Nádirigó , Meggyvágó , Erdei pacsirta , Nyaktekercs , cigánycsuk , Karvalyposzáta and many more.
During winter, you may also find rare guests from the far north such as Északi búvár , Sarki búvár and Jeges búvár.

Access
The Cospudener See is located on the southern outskirts of Leipzig, near the town of Markkleeberg. This route starts at the marina at the southwestern end of Markkleeberg. You can get there by foot, bike, car and bus. Click on a P in the map for directions to a parking. The circular walk is about 7 km.
