Nature reserve Bruchwiesen is an area of wet meadows and fenland. One of the few places in Europe where törpevízicsibe breeds.

Description

Bruchwiesen von Büttelborn is located in the former Altneckar riverbed. It consists of wet meadows, reed meadows and alder and oak forests. It is also a bird sanctuary designated by the EU. In the Bruchwiesen nature reserve almost 120 species of birds have been recorded. The most special bird in the NSG Bruchwiesen is törpevízicsibe. There have been 2-3 breeding pairs and about 10 birds calling in recent years. Among the birds you can observe in the area are Fehér gólya, Kékbegy, Jégmadár, Kakukk, Sárgarigó, Haris, Kékes rétihéja, Sárszalonka, Kis sárszalonka and Vörös kánya.

Nature reserve Bruchwiesen is located near the village of Büttelborn. Click on the P in the map for directions to a parking in Büttelborn. From the parking you can make a 4 km partly circular walk. From the path and road you can overlook the area.
