Description

Farasuto Forest is among the few remaining and now isolated forest patches left in the whole of the Gambia. This Community Nature Reserve is not very large, about 45 hectares, but unspolied and kept in good order by the local community. Especially during the morning and late afternoon, many species choose this place to drink. Excellent time to make pictures and observe. Among the birds you can observe are Violet Turaco, Green Turaco, Palm-nut Vulture, Bearded Barbet, Senegal Parrot, Oriole Warbler, Abyssinian Roller, Yellow-crowned Gonolek and African Paradise-Flycatcher.

Access

Farasuto Forest is located close to Banjul. The area can be accessed by car only. I have visited the place 2 times and was surprised both times by the number of birds in this park. Small but beautiful ! Best idea is to hire a birding guide (see the link below).
