Description
Sougeal Marshes are the only regional nature reserve in north east Brittany. There is an excellent visitor centre (Maison du Marais) east of Sougeal village and two hides on the west side of the marsh. The southern one overlooks the pond where breeding birds congregate, including Bíbic and Gólyatöcs. When dry, there are public paths around and across the marsh, with parking at access points.
Spring passage birds include Böjti réce, Nagy goda and Pajzsoscankó. Raptors in season may include Barna rétihéja, Kékes rétihéja and Kabasólyom. Kakukk , Vadgerle and Déli geze breed around the margins. Pásztorgém are abundant, with some Nagy kócsag, Kis kócsag, Fehér gólya and Kanalasgém.

Access
Marais de Sougeal is located east of the village of Sougéal. Reach the area by car or bicycle, with parking at the visitor centre and access points to the reserve. The circular walk round the perimeter will take about three hours but most of the site may be viewed from the bird hides on the west side.
