A vast Mediterranean stone steppe with very interesting and rare bird species in France like Reznek and nyílfarkú pusztaityúk.
The Crau is one of the last mediterranean stone steppes and therefore holds many rare species. Sadly it is under high pressure of land-use and agriculture. Car testing areas and an airport have covered parts of the steppe in recent times. Nevertheless steppe breeding birds like the Reznek, nyílfarkú pusztaityúk and Kalandrapacsirta still survive and can be seen in La Crau. In Winter you can also see flocks of Aranylile and Bíbic or even Sarkantyús pityer.
There is a nice car parking area - see the P on the map. The best tracks are drawn on the map, but there might be even more tracks.
