A small area of fallow land in a beautiful southern French landscape, which is a really good place to observe resting passerines and other bird species.
This small area of fallow land with a couple of bushes at Col de la Gineste is interesting for birdwatching. On one side of the area is a bushy area, on the other side is a mountanious and rocky area. On the fallow area you can observe different resting passerines during migration season. For example Hantmadár, Kormos légykapó, Erdei pacsirta, Kerti rozsdafarkú, Erdei pityer, Mezei pacsirta, Vörösbegy or Réti pityer.
On the bushy side of the area typical southern French breeding birds can be observed, such as Kucsmás poszáta, Bujkáló poszáta, cigánycsuk, Bajszos poszáta or vörös fogoly. Other migrants which can be observed are Kakukk, Hamvas rétihéja, Fekete gólya, Fehér gólya, Kerti sármány, Havasi sarlósfecske, Gyurgyalag, Darázsölyv or Kígyászölyv. These migrant species mainly pass overhead.

The Col de la Gineste is a road pass linking Marseille and Cassis by crossing the Calanques de Marseille massif. The birding site is located along the Route de la Gineste and very close to where you can park. Click on the P in the map for directions. You can explore the area best on foot.
